Your best resource is through an experienced breeder. People whom own or have owned German Shepherds are good to talk to also. So many German Shepherds end up in foster or rescue situations through no fault of their own. German Shepherd puppies are the most adorable puppies you ever did see. This makes them irresistible. Impulse buying and breeders who want to make money are the cause of this. You need to think really hard before getting this breed. They are large solid dogs. They will shed and and need lots of attention. They require a lot of exercise because they are working dogs. They do need training. When a good breeder asks you a lot of questions, they are making sure this is the right breed for you.

If you don't want to go through the puppy stage there are many adult German Shepherds looking for someone to love. Most of these dogs are great dogs just previous owners had a change of circumstance. Look below for some rescue organizations.
